INGREDIENTS
|
ALUAT
|
DOUGH
|
750 g faina cernuta in prealabil
|
1.65 lbs all
purpose flour
|
250 g unt topit
|
1 cup melted butter
|
250 ml smantana/lapte batut
|
1 cup sour cream or butter milk
|
200 g zahar(sau cat de dulce vrei)
|
~ 1 cup sugar or how sweer you want it
|
2 oua
|
2 eggs
|
1 galbenus
|
1 yolk
|
1 lingura praf de copt
|
1
tablespoon baking powder
|
1 lingura esenta rom
|
1 tablespoon rum
|
coaja lamaie
|
Lemon zest
|
UMPLUTURA
|
FILLING
|
1 ½ kg mere
|
A bag of 3 lbs granny smith apples
|
75 g gris
|
¼ cup of grits
|
|
1 cup sugar-more if apples are sourish
|
1 lingurita scortisoara
|
1 teaspoon cinnamon
|
1 lingura esenta rom
|
1 tablespoon rum
|
acestea bine, pana s-a omogenizat.
O taiati in

In a mixing bowl, mix together the melted butter, with sugar, than we add the
eggs, the yolk, the sour cream/butter milk, lemon zest, than we add in the
flour mixed with a pinch of salt and the baking powder. We mix all of this
very well together, than we put the obtained dough onto a floured plastic
wrap, than into the freezer, making sure it won’t freeze, and then into the fridge to keep it cold.
Wash the
apples very good, than grate them through the big grater. When done grating
the apples, mix them with the sugar, the grits, the cinnamon, and the rum
essence, than put the filling into a big pan to boil the apples into their
own juice to a low temperature- for about an hour- until the apples are well
incorporated with the grits, and almost done. When boiled, set the pan aside,
so the filling cools down. While it cools, take out the dough from the fridge,
divide it into 2 equal parts, and start rolling each one of them either into
squares, either into rectangular or round, whichever you prefer. One rolled
dough, put it on the bottom of the baking pan, then add the filling, than
cover it with the other piece of rolled dough. on top of the dough, punch holes with a fork, so no air bubbles will form.
Put the
pie in the oven at 360F for an hour, than take it out, powder it with sugar
powder, let it cool, and then slice it into small squares. Is best if served
cold with vanilla or chocolate ice cream, or on a cup of coffee, or just as
it is- a simple, desert.
Whichever
way you serve it, I can assure you is very delicious desert.
Enjoy,
and God bless you.
